Wow! I've really been slacking in posting here.
Something big is about to happen, but I don't want to jinx it. It makes me soooo happy though :-X
I found out that my parents are probably going to move out of the house in August. I'm not exactly thrilled by the idea. I want to have a place called home for a really long time. Yea change is good, but it feels like I keep moving and people close to me keep moving away. I guess it is good that I was in this house for 10 years, but that's still not long enough. I don't get to say "oh yea-this is the house I grew up in and this is exactly as I remember it." But good for my parents-especially my mom. I know she's pretty excited about it. And it's good for my dad.
This time in my life makes me really understand that family has to be there for each other. This is a big transition time and it's forcing us all to pull together and help each other out. It's a big change and we are all learning simultaneously. I'm happy for my parents and hope for the best.
Side note: I hope my grandma makes it to her big birthday celebration in May. Not only is it going to be a kick ass party, but it would crush me if my grandma passed. She's such a cool chick and there is still so much to learn about her. Getting old is a bitch and it's hard to see people age not so gracefully. But then again, I like to really pay homage to a person's life moreso than grieve their death. Then again, no one super close to me has died, but I'd like to think that's how I would handle it.
I'll keep you posted

I'm really hardcore serious about getting my ass to Africa this summer. I found a phatty program that is out of Kenya and I would be working in AIDS education. There is also an orphanage program that I would love to do. Ever since I went to the Haitian orphanage, I'm hooked. Plane tickets are a LOT pricier than I thought they would be. Basically I have to pay for everything and if I do so, I will have about $500 to my name and that is supposed to pay for everything next year. Rough.
And job hunting blows. I want to work massive hours now, but no one will CALL ME BACK!! It's really frustrating because I really need money. I have to go this summer.
Oh yea, I was thinking either 8 or 10 weeks. I hope I love it so much that I move there. One of the cool things the program does is encourage touring and going on safaris. I'm so beyond excited that I don't even know how to describe it. I hope everything works out otherwise I will be devastated. Completely devastated.
Rugby started up again. I love those girls, but it's really nice having some free time.
Since the internship ended, I also have a lot of free time (but not really). I thought about moving to a different state because I was so pissed, but I realize that I would be more effective here fighting this bullshit. So now I'm really going to kick my big mouth into high gear and do more public policy and advocacy stuff. Frankly I'm good about it and it puts my opinions to good use.
I went to an open forum today talking about what we can do now that the ban passed, and I almost cried since so many faculty members said that they were leaving because they need partner benefits in order to provide for their family members. I would be terrified to live here right now if I was in that situation. It truly sucks ass that some of our best professors and faculty are leaving because people are idiots and didn't educate themselves on the repurcussions of their actions.
It makes me sick that we are regressing in civil rights. I'm excited to see how much the student population makes an impact because we are definately a force to be reckoned with.
I'm happy I have found something that I'm so passionate about. It makes me feel good to know that I'm fighting injustices and putting my mind/body where my mouth is.
I love the energy of this campus and I love that there are truly so many awesome people here.
On a lighter note....
I'm leaving for Florida next week and I'm excited. I get to see my southern family and I looooove seeing my family. I get to spend time with my g-ranny too which will be really nice. She's so frickin cool and old :-P
I'm liking the changes that are taking place in my life. It's nice having Liz around too. She grounds me and knows the real me. It's grounding.
I'm excited for Christmas break. Now that I have my own apartment to stay at. I can have my friends over, no curfew, and drink at my leisure. Haha It's an exciting prospect. I can't wait till birthday season!!! It's going to be superb!
Foreign films rock my socks
So do documentaries
And chit chatting is becoming one of my favorite activities

Quick updates
Halloween was a smash hit. For the first time ever, I actually planned out 2 costumes and they were quite elaborate. I was very happy with the turnout. This was a much more enjoyable Halloween then last year which pleases me. Thanks to my friends for not letting me get down. And to Jon for being amazing :-D
The whole weekend was filled with said "interesting" experiences. Very eye opening. Hahahaha :-X
My cousin got married this weekend in Rockford. It's been awhile since I've been to a wedding, so it was very anticipated. Let's just say that the ceremony was unconventional and I was the drunken dancing bafune (?Sp). My parents rocked though. My dad and I closed down the dance floor and my mom and I shimmied and salsa'ed together. They are really cool and I realize that my parents are quite awesome people. I'm glad I am their daughter.
If you know anything about me, that previous statement is huge. But true. They are really awesome. Considering no one would dance with me, but my parents were dancing queens with me. It rocked.
This week is going to be trying. The election is in 11 hours and I will be awake for the next 36 or so hours. And of course every test, paper, and book under the sun is due this week. It's amazing what you can do with a fire under your ass.
It was nice getting to go home this weekend. Not only did I get my laundry done, but I got to talk to a previous coworker/friend. Always a pleasure. And it makes you realize that some people never change and you become grateful that you have the chance to go to college and grow up (Amber-not geared towards you).
It's really great being able to be with your friends through their struggles with life and identity and through everything. We are all growing up together and it's nice to have that comradeship. It's comforting to know that others have experienced the same things as you and that there are others in similar situations.
Things are good now. Being independent with other independent people feels pretty damn good. I like things right now. I realize the vagueness of that statement, but I don't really know how to specify it further. It's simply that things are fairly good.
PS-reading feminist books nad books of struggle make you realize that your problems are nothing and they also empower you, maybe that's why I'm in a decent mood.

I wish ...:
I knew what I was doing with my life and also that I can go to Africa this summer
So many people don't know that ...:
not being dependable is a horrible trait
I am ...:
easily attached
My heart is ...:
mangled and guarded now
:-*
First and foremost, I got a tattoo. It's exciting. The suprising thing is that my mom helped me design it. It's higher than I wanted, but whatever. I like having one.
Rugby now is over for the season. It's strange not having practices and now I will be able to go out Friday and Saturday nights. I love those girls though. It's sad and now I need to force myself to workout. blargh.
I hope to get a hardcore job now that I have freetime. It's not as easy as I had hoped. I've been looking and applying to a lot of places, but you need experience to gain experience. It's a viscous cycle. Lame.
But maybe I'll be going to U of Michigan for public health? I don't know. I don't really want to do graduate work at Michigan-they are a big rival.
I still don't know what to do. I have to declare soon and I need to pick new classes. I hate that time of year. It's uber stressful and people are pushing me in all different directions. I don't know what I want to do because I have little experience and exposure to anything. This blows.
Family wedding next weekend. Super excited.
I'm going to Florida for Thanksgiving sans my family. It will be a lot of fun except for the whole flying on Thanksgiving part. But I will get to see my TN family and get to spend time wit my g-ranny. yay.
I'm excited to see my friends and family again.
And I'm excited for Halloween. Meg and I have cool costumes. So I am pumped. AND we dont' have a game that Saturday, so I'm free to do whatever. Yay!
